Abstract

The use of wound care products that can be formed within the injured area is necessary to reduce the extent of damage, particularly in cases where the wound has an uneven shape and depth. Owing to the complication of these ulcers, sprayable (extrudeable/injectable) wound ressings are easy, fast, and wide-ranging wound-dressing alterations instead of film wound dressings. Depending on their loaded reagent, they can also stop infections and subsequent injuries. In situ wound dressings offer benefits including acting as a remedial barrier, providing moisture and pain relief, fluid absorption, preventing bacterial infections, and being able to deliver small molecules and medications. This chapter covers the most recent advancements in in-situ forming wound dressings. It refers to a description of different types of wound dressings, their properties, and structural specifications for spray formulations. Here, we also talk about various platforms related to wound dressing, and the present state of commercial spray-on dressings and their applications. © 2026 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
