Abstract

A combination of molybdatophosphoric acid (H3PMo12O40.xH2O) and sodium nitrite in the presence of wet SiO2 was used as an effective oxidizing agent for the oxidation of 1,4-dihydropyridines to the corresponding pyridine derivatives under mild and heterogeneous conditions in excellent yields. © 2005 The Japan Institute of Heterocyclic Chemistry.
