The Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics at University of Isfahan has built an outstanding reputation in both theoretical and applied mathematics. With 40 faculty members (including 3 recipients of the TWAS Prize) and about 500 students, the faculty offers programs in pure mathematics (algebra, analysis, geometry), applied mathematics (numerical analysis, operations research), statistics, and actuarial science. The High Performance Computing Lab supports research in mathematical modeling with a 1000-core cluster. The faculty maintains the Isfahan Mathematical Society which organizes monthly seminars and annual competitions. Recent research highlights include contributions to number theory (proof of special cases of the abc conjecture), development of statistical models for climate prediction, and applications of graph theory in network security. The faculty publishes the "Bulletin of the Iranian Mathematical Society" (indexed in MathSciNet) and hosts the International Conference on Mathematical Sciences every three years. Industrial collaborations include projects with Central Bank of Iran (risk modeling), Iran Meteorological Organization (climate models), and mobile network operators (optimization problems). The faculty has produced two Fields Medal nominees and numerous winners of national mathematics olympiads.
