The University of Isfahan, which is the largest university in the central region of the country in terms of its age and fields of study, is a state university affiliated with the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, whose first foundations were laid on December 20, 1946, with the establishment of the Isfahan Medical College. This college began with a number of associate professors in a class at Saadi High School, which at that time had a relatively well-equipped laboratory, and its laboratory and a hall for dissection were made available to the college, and on February 16 of the same year, Dr. Hakami was elected as the first dean of the college. Four years later, in 1940, the Isfahan Medical College began its work next to the Medical College. It continued its educational activities with a six-year academic course and the permission to issue doctoral diplomas in medicine to students after writing their dissertations. Thus, the Medical College was gradually closed and its associate professors were transferred to the Medical College. In the academic year 1956, the Faculty of Pharmacy was established and joined the Faculty of Medicine, and the classrooms and laboratories of that faculty, whose buildings were rented scattered around the city, were used, and in 1959 it became an independent unit. The peak of the University of Isfahan was in 1959. In October of that year, it was agreed to open the Faculty of Literature in Isfahan. This faculty began its educational activities on December 18, 1959, with two majors: Persian Language and Literature and English Language and Literature. With the addition of the Faculty of Literature to the Faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy, the existence of the University of Isfahan was realized, and on December 25 of the same year, Dr. Farooqi was appointed as the Dean of the Faculty. To begin with, a house was rented on the former Fathiyeh Street (a location that is now part of Shahid Rajaee Park), and a year later, with the help of the Endowment Department, a dignified building was provided for the Faculty of Literature at a low rent in the Shahzadeh Ibrahim Alley (current Abuzar Street). With the help of the educated teachers who were in Isfahan, Dr. Farooqi was able to quickly expand the faculty by adding other departments. The Department of French Language and Literature was added to the faculty in 1338, the Department of Armenian Language and Literature in 1339, the Department of Arabic Language and Literature in 1341, the Department of Geography and History in 1345, and the Department of Social Sciences in 1348. In the academic year 1341-42, the Secretariat of Isfahan University was dissolved, and the Faculties of Literature and Medicine each came under the supervision of the Directorate General of Higher Education of the then Ministry of Culture as an independent unit. The Faculty of Pharmacy was re-joined to the Faculty of Medicine, and the admission of students to that faculty was refused, and its remaining students were transferred to the Faculty of Pharmacy in Tehran. But the slow movement of Isfahan University continued and in August 1964, the Faculty of Science was established next to the Faculty of Literature and began its educational activities. In October 1965, the Isfahan University was established, simultaneously with the higher universities of Ahvaz, Tabriz and Mashhad, next to the faculties of literature and sciences. 1967 is the year when the university began to revive and prosper, and on September 16, with the appointment of Dr. Motamedi as the new president of Isfahan University, the university began its academic existence and the first board of trustees was formed. Perhaps for this reason, the following year, Isfahan University witnessed a huge leap, as three major buildings, the Literature, Science and Student Self-Service Buildings, were built in about 4 months, and at the beginning of the 1968-1969 academic year, the Faculties of Literature and Science were moved from the Prince Ibrahim Alley to the Hezar Jerib location. One of the most desirable places in the city, a thousand acres, was nothing more than a desert at the time due to the lack of water, but the foresight and foresight of Dr. Morteza Hakami provided that capital for the University of Isfahan in 1949.
