Background and aims: This study aimed to compare the effect of a vocational rehabilitation program with CBT-based career counseling on career issues of individuals with bipolar disorder. Methods: The effectiveness of the vocational rehabilitation program was compared with the control group waiting with CBT-based career counseling in three settings: pre-test, post-test, and follow-up. The sampling method was purposeful in the first stage and available in the second stage. To evaluate the research data, descriptive statistical indicators (mean and SD) and inferential statistical methods, multivariate analysis of variance test with repeated measures, were used. Results: The results showed that the vocational rehabilitation program was effective on career issues (p <0.0001) of individuals with bipolar disorder, and the effectiveness was also continuous after one-month follow-up (p <0.0001). However, CBT-based career counseling was ineffective on career issues (p <0.86). Conclusion: It appears that the vocational rehabilitation program has a lasting effect on improving the career issues of individuals with bipolar disorder, and this approach can be used to develop the career of individuals with bipolar disorder. © 2024 Iran University of Medical Sciences. Background and aims: *The objective of the present study was to investigate the model of career issues of individuals with bipolar disorder and to develop a vocational rehabilitation program tailored to these individuals. Methods: *This research consisted of two parts. The first part aimed to discover the career issues of people with bipolar disorder, which were extracted from three sources: articles published on the subject of career issues of people with bipolar disorder (N=34), interviews with people with bipolar disorder (N=48), and interviews with experts who have worked in this field (N=11). These were extracted using a qualitative method (exploratory meta-synthesis). Then, based on these extracted factors, in the second part of the research, the model of career issues was designed. Finally, based on this model, the vocational rehabilitation program for people with bipolar disorder was prepared and formulated. Results: *Based on the findings of the research in the career issues model of people with bipolar disorder, the conditional factors lead to the emergence of factors, developing career issues. These factors also exacerbate the disorder symptoms, and after the worsening of the disorder symptoms, the factors that accelerate career issues lead to the formation of career issues in the two areas of poor work performance and feeling work insecurity. Also, the findings showed that the occupational rehabilitation program for people with bipolar disorder includes three levels of intervention on people in the workplace, family members, and the person with bipolar disorder. Conclusion: *Discovering career issues and developing rehabilitation programs for bipolar disorder are necessary for improving the career and mental health of persons with bipolar disorder. © 2024 Iran University of Medical Sciences. The present study aimed to investigate the validity and reliability of the Work Hope scale. The research method was descriptive and correlational. The research sample comprised the enrolled students of Isfahan University in the year 2021. Composed of 292 pupils (188 female and 104 male), the sample was compiled using a proportional stratified sampling method. For data collection, the Work Hope Scale and the General Self-Efficacy Questionnaire were used. AMOS-25 software was utilized to assess convergent validity and one-group and multi-group confirmatory factor analyses in order to ascertain the validity. The estimation of internal consistency was performed using SPSS-19 as a reliability indicator. The results of a one-group confirmatory factor analysis validated the measurement model in which objectives, agency, and pathway were considered as first-order factors and work optimism as a second-order factor. Multi-group confirmatory factor analysis examining the relationship between gender and measurement weights, structural covariance, and measurement residuals revealed no statistically significant differences between the two groups. A statistically significant correlation (r = 0.47, p < 0.01) was observed between overall self-efficacy and work aspiration. Furthermore, the estimated Cronbach's alpha coefficients for the objectives, agency, and pathway subscales were 0.90, 0.71, and 0.74, respectively, for the entire scale. The results of the measurement invariance tests indicated that the conceptual paradigm for comprehending the work hope constructs is identical among males and females, suggesting that this scale may be suitable for use with both genders. © The Author(s).

Introduction: Due to the lack of an instrument for measuring the career issues of those with bipolar disorder, the present study was conducted to develop and examine the psychometric characteristics of the Career Issues Inventory for Persons with Bipolar Disorder (CII-BD). Material and Methods: To check the diagnostic validity, via purposive sampling and interviews by a psychiatrist, 108 people were selected from two sample groups (53 normal people and 55 participants with bipolar disorder). The items were extracted from three sources including scientific articles related to the career issues of bipolar people, interviews with individuals with bipolar disorder, and interviews with experts using the Meta-analysis Of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (MOOSE) systematic qualitative method. Finally, the items of the CII-BD were reduced to 81 questions. Content, construct, and convergent validity plus factor analysis of CII-BD were also examined. The reliability of CII-BD was evaluated by internal consistency and test-retest method with seven weeks intervals after the initial implementation of the CII-BD. Results: The convergent validity of the sum score of CII-BD with the sum score of the symptom inventory of people with bipolar disorder among the sample of normal people and the sample of persons with bipolar disorder was (r=0.79, P<0.01, N=53) and (r=0.78, P<0.0001, N=53) respectively. In construct validity examination, nine subscales were extracted using the factor analysis method with varimax rotation, which included communication problems, poor work performance, insecurity, grandiosity, unreliability, change-seeking, vulnerability, lack of boundaries, and lack of self-control towards the opposite sex. In the reliability analysis, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was 0.96 (N=55, participants with bipolar disorder) and 0.86 (N=53, normal people), respectively, P<0.05, showing the high internal consistency of CII-BD. The test-retest correlation coefficient of the sum scores of the CII-BD was r = 0.91, P < 0.01, which indicated the credible stability of the CII-BD. Conclusion: The CII-BD is a valid and reliable instrument to measure the specific career issues of bipolar persons and their early vocational rehabilitation. It is suggested that future research should focus on choosing a job and job placement for bipolar disorder persons. © 2024 The Authors.

In this study, the psychometric properties of the Persian version of Assimilation and Accommodation Scales were assessed across gender among individuals with visual impairment. In addition, the relationship between assimilation, accommodation, and life satisfaction through self-efficacy was investigated. For this study, 270 participants were recruited using convenience sampling. They were administered Satisfaction with Life Scale, Self-efficacy Scale, and Assimilation and Accommodation Scales. The results indicated that the two first-order factors structure was confirmed and this structure was replicable across gender. Convergent validity of Assimilation Scale verified by the significant relationships between assimilation and life satisfaction (r =.21, p <.001), and self-efficacy (r =.50, p <.001). Also significant relations of accommodation with life satisfaction (r =.25, p <.001), and self-efficacy (r =.28, p <.001) confirmed convergent validity of Accommodation Scale. In addition, the values of average variance extracted (AVE) for assimilation and accommodation were estimated as.53 and.52, respectively. The reliability of both Assimilation and Accommodation Scale were reported acceptable by estimating internal consistency (α =.90; α =.89), composite reliability (CR =.91; CR =.90), and stability (r =.71; r =.73), respectively. Furthermore, the results demonstrated the mediating role of self-efficacy in the relationship between assimilation and accommodation with life satisfaction. Accordingly, the Persian version of Assimilation and Accommodation Scales proved to be reliable and valid. The present study aimed to examine the fit of the career adaptation model for individuals with visual impairment. This study was conducted on 319 individuals with visual impairment. The results demonstrated the relationship between adaptivity and adaption was fully mediated by adaptability and adapting. In addition, career adaptability partially mediated the relationship between adaptivity and adapting. However, the results did not confirm the mediating role of adapting in the relationship between adaptability and adaptation. Finally, the results indicated the full mediator role of adaptability in the association between adaptivity and adaptation. The findings highlighted the important role of adaptability in the career adaptation model to explain career satisfaction. Therefore, intervention programs based on career adaptability can empower individuals with visual impairment and promote career satisfaction. © The Author(s) 2022.

The author examined a multiple mediation model and a moderation model for the relationships among adaptivity (in terms of future work self and proactivity), career adaptability, adapting responses (in terms of career decision self-efficacy [CDSE] and career engagement), and adaptation (in the form of academic satisfaction) among 282 university students. Results showed that career adaptability, CDSE, and career engagement fully mediated the relations of future work self and proactivity with academic satisfaction. Career adaptability also had a mediation role in the relationships of future work self and proactivity with CDSE and career engagement. The relationship between career adaptability and academic satisfaction was fully mediated by CDSE and career engagement. Career adaptability did not moderate the relationships between adaptivity indices and adapting indices. These results support the serial multiple mediation model, which is introduced in the adaptation model. Career education and career coaching could improve clients' agency through working on their self-regulation resources, self-efficacy beliefs, and overt career behaviors. © 2020 by the National Career Development Association. The current study examined the role of career adaptability as a mediator between personality dimensions and career engagement. This investigation was conducted using a sample of university students (N = 201) who completed the Zuckerman-Kuhlman-Aluja Personality Questionnaire, the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale-Persian Form, and the Career Engagement Scale. Career adaptability dimensions related positively with activity, negatively with neuroticism, and positively with career engagement. The results indicated that career adaptability dimensions partially mediated the relationships between activity (work compulsion, general activity, restlessness, and work energy) and career engagement, whereas they were a full mediator between neuroticism (anxiety, depression, dependency, and low self-esteem) and career engagement. Among career adaptability dimensions, curiosity fully mediated the effect of sensation seeking on career engagement. These findings suggest that career adaptability is a dynamic mechanism that helps to regulate the relationship between specific dispositional traits and career adapting behaviors. © 2016 Elsevier Inc.

The purpose of this research was to explore the role of General Factor of Personality (GFP) and adult attachment dimensions in marital quality through relationship attributions and emotional reactions. The sample consisted of 261 couples who were married at least more than one year and had no major stressful events in their lives up to the time of the study. In this study, the NEO-Five Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI), the Experiences in Close Relationships Questionnaire-Revised (ECR-R), the Relationship Attribution Measure (RAM), the Geneva Emotion Wheel (GEW), and the Perceived Relationship Quality Components (PRQC) were used for collecting the data. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to analyze the data. The results suggest that attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance and GFP directly and indirectly, through relationship attributions and emotional reactions, were related to marital quality. In addition, relationship attributions are antecedent to emotional reactions. Based on the findings, an intrapersonal-situational model of marital quality is suggested.

Objectives: The main purpose of this research is studying the effect of cognitive - behavioral counseling, based on interacting cognitive subsystems (ICS) approach, on depression of infertile couples. Design: The research is quasi experimental. Materials and methods: The sample consists of 30 infertile couples who are placed randomly in the experimental and the control group. Both groups were assessed in two stages, pre- test and post-test, by Beck Depression Inventory. The time laps between pre-test and post-test was 6 weeks. The experimental group was exposed to counseling based on ICS approach in six sessions. Results: The study indicates that counseling based on interacting cognitive subsystems is effective in decreasing the depression of infertile couples in the experimental group than the control group (p<0.0001) and its effect is considerably higher on women than men (p=0.009). Conclusion: Cognitive-behavioral counseling based on interacting cognitive subsystems approach is effective in decreasing infertile couples' depression and it would be better to consider it as a part of therapy along with biological therapies related to infertility.
