Our brain receives only the information that is interested in and able to see and hear. On the other hand, only a portion of the input information is incorporated into our knowledge structure. Behavior is the result of learning, meaning that learning causes a change in behavior. Information behavior refers to the activities that a person engages in to fulfill their information needs. This essay aims to provide an overview of the information circulation process in the human mind based on the theory of information processing. This will be achieved through a review of scientific texts and research conducted in this field.
The current research utilized the review method based on theory of information processing. It involved categorizing, integrating, and evaluating previously published texts on this topic. Given the complexity of the information processing process, the study aimed to assess information behavior through the lens of information selectivity. A total of 28 Persian sources and 65 Latin sources (5 of which were translated) were utilized from the available information sources. These sources were ultimately divided into three main groups: 37 sources in the field of psychology and cognitive sciences, 42 sources in the field of information science and epistemology (information behavior), and 14 sources in other related fields.
Findings of the research revealed a reduction process at all stages of information processing; i.e.: 1. data entry through the senses,
2. information selection and processing, 3. memory and information storage, and 4. information learning and behavior. Additionally, the investigations demonstrated the potential for conducting basic and applied research in order to enhance information storage and retrieval systems. Across the majority of the reviewed texts and research, the selective impact of information and its consequences on human behavior, particularly information behavior were evident.
The research results indicate that focusing on the selective approach to information in users’ information behavior process is crucial for understanding user behavior and designing effective information retrieval systems. The successful operation of information systems in information retrieval, leading to improved relevance, should be guided by users’ information behavior and the factors influencing it. This should also serve as a means to enhance the positive aspects of their information behavior. Therefore, all behavioral aspects and influencing factors need to be identified and examined. A key consideration in information system design is creating diagrams that accommodate users’ limitations to enhance learning. One challenge with databases is presenting materials in a way that enhances production without overwhelming the user’s information processing system.

This study is to explore the cognitive components of therapists’ information seeking behavior in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. According to the high power of neuroscience tools in the analysis of immediate cognitive components, Quantitative Electroencephalography (QEEG) was used. Following, five of the therapists were selected by random sampling from a variety of researchers and entered in the research process. To gather data, some tools such as QEEG and Morae software were used. The findings showed that the brain waves of the therapists in the early stages of Kuhlthau’s ISP revealed extensive cognitive activities. As the therapists moved on to the final stages of Kuhlthau’s ISP, these cognitive activities diminished and the brain emotions overcame. Based on the findings, the best step for librarian intervention to guide and assist clinicians was stage 3 of Kuhlthau’s ISP. Also, findings indicated that the therapists’ information seeking behavior in the cognitive actions section was similar to the Kuhlthau’s ISP Model. Finally, it can be concluded that based on modern neuroscience and information technology tools, one can provide a better understanding of the up-to-the-minute process of therapists’ information seeking behavior, and due to smart and personalized systems , provide at the right moment, the appropriate information to the users. This evolution can be a major step in promoting information seeking behavior and advancing in the user information needs momently.

Humans do different behaviors to meet their needs constantly. These behaviors are different and each of them constitutes subject of disciplines such as psychology, sociology, management, art, knowledge and information science, and some specialized sub-disciplines of them. Investigating information behaviors and knowledge behaviors are favorite subjects in knowledge and information science. These behaviors show the main elements of user activity to interact with information and knowledge as well as retrieval systems. This paper with considering the importance of these concepts tries to review the literature through analytical and discussed concepts such as data, information, knowledge, wisdom, and intelligence. Afterward, the prerequisites for the formation of knowledge-seeking behavior are expressed and defined as knowledge-seeking behavior and differentiation with information-seeking behavior. The surveys showed that the concept of knowledge-seeking behavior is an important concept and is very wide so that we can expect to open a new area in literature and research in various fields especially in knowledge and information science. It is necessary to develop and regulate the frameworks in this field.

The project aim was to establish an SDI (Selected Dissemination of Information) service for the faculty members at University of Tehran, faculty of psychology and education. The project was carried out during the 2006-2007 period. First, a three stage survey was conducted to identify the information needs which were then served using a current awareness service over the period. Findings confirmed that the SDI project significantly impacted on the faculty information seeking behavior. Furthermore, there had been evidence supporting the fact that it has also influenced the quality of instruction by facilitating the overall efficacy of information sources collected. It was the intent of researchers to expand this project at later stages to include all humanities faculties in the university and if possible at a national level.
