Biography

Dr. Reza Rasti (member, IEEE) received B.Sc.(in Electronics) and M.Sc.(in Bioelectric) degrees from Shahid Rajaee Teacher Training University and Khajeh Nasir Toosi University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2009 and 2012, respectively. He received his Ph.D. (in Bioelectric) from the Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Isfahan, Iran, with the highest honors in 2018. From October 2018 to October 2019, he was a post-doctoral research associate with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Pratt School of Engineering, Duke University, NC, USA, mainly focusing on ocular image analysis and medical software development. In November 2019, he joined the Iranian National Elite Foundation and worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Isfahan, Iran, until November 2020. He is currently a Lecturer and Researcher in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Isfahan, and a research collaborator with the VIP Laboratory, Duke University, NC, USA (from January 2020). His research line is artificial intelligence in health and biomedicine, mainly focusing on intelligent predictive systems in medical data analysis. Dr. Rasti serves as a reviewer for over ten international ISI journals, including IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging (IEEE-TMI), IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics (IEEE-JBHI), IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering (IEEE-TBME), Neurocomputing, IEEE Access, Biomedical Optics Express, Nature Scientific Reports, Biomedical Signal Processing and Control, and others.

Research Interests

My academic and research endeavors are centered on leveraging the capabilities of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Advanced Data Analytics across two strategic pillars: 1. Transformation in Healthcare and Biomedical Engineering The primary objective of this domain is the integration of medical imaging, intelligent signal and image processing, and computational neuroscience with state-of-the-art Deep Learning algorithms. Key research areas include: - Development of Intelligent Diagnostic Systems: Designing novel models for early disease detection and the identification of data-driven biomarkers. - Personalized Medicine: Optimizing therapeutic models through the analysis of vital biological processes, including brain development, aging, and disease pathology. - Computational Pharmacology: Investigating drug design mechanisms and evaluating pharmaceutical efficacy using advanced computational processing. - Clinical-Technological Synergy: Bridging the gap between emerging technologies and clinical practice to realize the next generation of medical paradigms. 2. Industrial Intelligence and Advancement of HSE Standards Beyond healthcare, a significant portion of my research focus is dedicated to the transfer of AI and Computer Vision expertise to operational and industrial environments. These activities encompass: - Smart Industrial Monitoring: Utilizing data analytics and computer vision for production line supervision and the implementation of Predictive Maintenance systems. - AI in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Developing automated systems for workplace safety monitoring, occupational hazard identification, oversight of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance, and industrial accident prevention. - Operational Data Analytics: Extracting actionable patterns from Industrial Big Data to enhance productivity and mitigate human and environmental risks.
